Job Description

Our client is a Power Producer and operates a fleet of power plants. The have a need for a VP Operations to manage those projects.

Position Summary:

This position reports to the SVP Operations and is responsible for oversight of the commercial and operational performance of company projects as well as providing input to senior management for proposed Development, O&M and acquisition opportunities. This would require travel to potential sites as well as detailed due diligence analysis.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

? Provide leadership and direction for execution of all matters involved in the business of operation, maintenance and ownership of company projects

? Be responsible for management of direct reports, including plant General Manager(s) and other personnel in Operations, if required

? When required, manage and oversee operational and commercial responsibilities for multiple plant facilities.

? Provide budgets and forecasts of operational costs (labor, equipment maintenance and capital, etc.) for input to modeling analyst and senior management for proposed coal and natural gas Development, O&M and acquisition opportunities

? Understand contractual/logistical interface aspects of PPA, fuel supply and other plant specific contracts

? Support initiatives to acquire and develop additional interests in power facilities

? Support initiatives to sell portions or all of applicable projects as required

? Carry out responsibilities related to membership on project management committees or boards of control as applicable

? Review and participate as required in long-term planning related to acquisitions, dispositions, and project initiatives in order to maximize the long term value of the company

? Provide direction in relation to operational and technical matters and issues where necessary

? Maintain an open communications atmosphere with all facilities and corporate departments; and assist in the coordination of support services (internal and external) to include, but not limited to, field support services, engineering, legal, procurement, treasury, finance, accounts payable and general ledger, human resources and training to facilitate plant needs.

Required Qualifications:

? At least 10 years’ experience in the electric/power generation industry, some of which was gained managing a power plant at the Plant Manager level

? Excellent leadership skills and technical competence in the electric/power generation industry

? Hands-on experience dealing with commercial matters and must possess good commercial sense

? Related M&A and/or Development (including due diligence) experience

? Strong negotiations and problem resolution skills

? Working knowledge of accounting, budgeting, financial analysis

? Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure

    Expertise in evaluating those factors related to project and company profitability

? A Bachelor’s Degree is required, and an MBA is preferred

? Familiarity with statistical methods to support analysis of results of operations

? Familiarity with Excel or other software used in the construction of project models and budgets

? Excellent skills in written and oral communication
