Currently seeking a Technical Accounting Principal for a great opportunity with a Fortune 500 Medical Devices Company in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will be a CPA and possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting with 4-6 years of relevant experience at a BIG 4 or large regional accounting firm.
 
Responsibilities of the Technical Accounting Manager
  • Serve a critical role as subject matter expert for both revenue recognition and lease accounting (ASC 606 and ASC 842, respectively).
  • Collaborate with company’s global accounting teams to determine appropriate action for certain transactions, research applicable accounting guidance when complex matters arise, and present findings/accounting updates to the global business.
  • Act as a liaison for the divisions/regions as specific revenue recognition/lease accounting questions arise.
  • Collaborate with other members of company to determine appropriate action for questions raised by the divisions and regions.
  • Help carry out company policies and procedures put in place because of the new revenue recognition standard (ASC 606).
  • Assist the business in the ongoing implementation of the new leasing standard (ASC 842).
  • Research, read, and analyze the applicable accounting guidance.
  • Communicate accounting conclusions to the divisions and regions.
  • Educate the global business on complexities in accounting and key impacts beyond accounting.
  • Lead ad-hoc technical accounting projects, as needed. IND123
 
Requirements of the Technical Accounting Manager
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent and CPA required, Master’s Degree a plus
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience at a BIG 4 or large regional accounting firm
  • Prior technical accounting and ASC 606 experience strongly preferred
  • Strong GAAP accounting knowledge, specifically focused on ASC 606 and ASC 842
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret/apply technical accounting literature
  • Ability to work autonomously and act in a consultative role
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and teams within organization
  • Strong process and time management skills
  • Demonstrated financial background and experience researching and applying technical accounting guidance
