We have an immediate need for an Supplier Development Engineer in the North Boston area to to join a successful, growing global manufacturer of electromechanical instruments and devices (over $4B in size?, this division is $150M?). Products manufacturered are highly engineered and end users are Aerospace/Defense. This is a global, multi-site business, very profitable, dynamic group of people and impressive products. This position’s primary goal will be to assure the supply chain is positioned to support future growth and technology advancements. This role will collaborate with Sourcing, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality/Engineering teams; focusing on material, supplier, and process/performance improvement. This role will support supplier identification, qualification and development across all of the supply chain (for the MA site as well as Mexico).

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Sourcing & Supply Chain teams in the management of suppliers; identification, evaluation, and approval of new suppliers, risk assessments and performance improvement -- assessing capabilities, capacity, risk.
  • Facilitate resolution of supplier engineering issues and questions, track compliance for certifications
  • Perform materials obsolescence risk reviews and drive alternate part spec identification & qualification. 
  • Support Sourcing team in identifying potential sources for new technologies.  
  • Develop supplier work transfer processes to assure qualification actions and transfer prerequisites appropriately mitigate transfer risks. 
  • Support teams in improving Supplier Performance tracking/metrics and in documenting and driving improvement plans. 
  • Coordinate and perform a range of supplier engagement activities including on-site capability assessments and studies, gage/attribute R&R’s, problem solving, training/development, improvement projects, etc.
  • Review customer contracts for supplier flow-down clauses; address flow-down requirements.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of supplier efficiency and productivity. 
 
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or technical discipline; certifications in Supply Chain Desired. Six Sigma Certification strongly preferred.
  • 4-15+ years experience in Supplier Development, Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Supplier Quality.
  • Product knowledge of components and/or integrated system development (electrical, mechanical, electronics, motors/pumps/controllers) required
  • Experience in Lean environment and/or one or more of the following required: DMAIC, Value Stream Management, FMEA, SPC, process mapping, diagrams, 5S, 5Why etc
  • Regulated industry experience strongly preferred (aerospace/defense, aviation, medical, automotive, etc)
  • Ability to travel 20-30% required, to various North America sites and potentially globally
  • Due to the nature of the work, must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
