Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator 

Job Information Purpose:

 The HS&E Coordinator will provide full time health, safety and environmental support to the operations and will ensure that all practices are in compliance with regulatory and company requirements. The position will be responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its permitting applications along with conducting audits to ensure compliance. Support the development and coordination of training programs in support of our client's Columbus manufacturing plant and IS0140001 certification.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Practice safe working techniques and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company. Provide daily guidance and direction in HS&E programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach; Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness. Maintain and update as needed SOP’s, JHA’s, permit reporting documentation. Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective HS&E is implemented and working. Conduct employee HS&E orientations; emergency response training; emergency evacuation preparedness training. Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected. Conduct regular safety and environmental audits and report findings to Plant Leadership. Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements; Responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its applications and help support the compliance process; supporting and providing relief for the environmental department. Coordinate plant safety team monthly meetings, set annual goals, drive actions to meet/exceed expectations. Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and drive incident investigations to determine corrective actions. Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety; Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies and other Core sites HS&E personnel. Lead the Emergency Response Team and comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Required Background:

BS or Associates in a scientific discipline, specifically in Health, Safety & Environmental 

5+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment

3+ years in role overseeing HS&E in a manufacturing setting

At least 1 year of developing and delivering class room and shop floor training Track record of work stability and responsibility progression

Required Skills and Experience:

 Deep understanding of OSHA guidelines re: ergonomics, machine guarding, confined spaces, lock out/tag out, etc. and reporting requirements Strong knowledge of Title V EPA requirements Strong understanding of Facility Storm Water regulations Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of hazardous waste identification, storage, and disposal Ability to coach, evaluate, and develop personnel Competency with Office suite of products Excellent presentation skills Attention to detail Well-developed root cause analysis and problem solving skills Mechanical interest and aptitude Committed to the safety of employees Highly organized with the ability to prioritize OSHA 30 hour training certification HAZWOPER certification
