Currently seeking a Finance Manager for a thriving insurance company in the Chicago, IL area. The ideal candidate will possess 4-6 years’ public accounting experience and preferably have insurance experience.  
Responsibilities of the Finance Manager
  • Identify and execute strategic approaches towards financial processes and methodologies (e.g., planning, reporting), as well as proactive financial results management and communications.
  • Analyze long-term impact of new/anticipated strategies and decisions and consider ramifications.
  • Supervise junior team members to ensure team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a point of contact for segmental deliverables and ad-hoc requests.
  • Provide support for management presentations and enhance/maintain management reporting standards.
  • Set up and perform control processes to ensure tight financial controls and proper mitigations.
  • Lead and assist various department and company projects.
  • Discuss with segment leaders to obtain key assumptions, i.e. changes/initiatives as well as their impacts.
  • Update models and assumptions to be in line with business trend and strategies.
  • Analyze and provide commentary on variances and trends and put together forecasting analysis package.
  • Work with actuarial department, segment leaders, and management to conduct annual field comp deferral study.
  • Review actual results, explain variances compared to forecast and plan, and provide analytical opinions.
  • Conduct/analyze deferral calculations/amortization quarterly and analyze results/provide accrual input.
  • Generate actual analytics and reporting package monthly and quarterly.
Requirements of the Finance Manager
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and 4-6 years’ public accounting experience; CPA a plus
  • Audit Manager out of the BIG 4 is ideal and insurance experience is a big plus
  • Will consider public/private mix but seeking candidate with accounting background who wants to get into FP&A
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and excellent excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication and technical skills
