Job Description
Our client, an industry leader in factory automation products and solutions is seeking an Field Application Engineer II to join their team of smart, dedicated, technical experts who are not only the best in their fields, but are committed to a tradition of technical leadership and innovation.

Under minimum supervision, provide technical support and documented engineering content for products and applications to key accounts, sales engineers, and distributors. Develop solutions to customer application requirements using a process of discovery, documented engineering, advocacy, and support. 

Position Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical support for products and applications to sales channel personnel and key accounts.
Develop technical application documented engineering content that adds value to the company's technical solutions.
Provide on-site application engineering and product consulting.
Serve as the escalated technical resource (subject matter expert [SME]) to Advanced Automation Provider Partners.
Maintain technical documents and documentation on company products, as assigned.
Maintain current knowledge of new products and applications, through self-study, hands-on testing of demo units, and training/seminar attendance.
Provide technical product and solution training to customers, distributors and company personnel on new company products. Actively identify opportunities for custom training classes.
Deliver presentations to external organi­zations or entities.
Develop and/or deliver technical training to customers, distributors and personnel on all company products.
Document support case data utilizing CRM.
Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Travel Requirement
20-30% Travel for training and application support within North America, Europe and Japan.

Ability to develop and maintain in-depth, up-to-date technical knowledge, including the latest company products, and to serve as escalated technical resource (subject matter expert [SME]).

Beneficial Skills and Experience
Strong background in PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, motion control, and networking, and IEC 1131 programming standards
Some experience with PC hardware and software required with specific experience in industrial applications is preferred
Practical experience in the design, development, startup and commissioning of automation control systems
Ability to analyze customer application requirements on phone or in person
Project management skills.
 
Required Experience
BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of application experience with industrial automation products.
Experience with PLC, VFD, HMI, Servo, Motion Control, Control Networks and other industrial automation technologies and applications.
Experience with multi-axis servo positioning and coordinated motion control applications
